SMU identifies UST as central Asia-Pacfic Partner; UST holds 2nd installment of Diplomats’ Lecture Series

St. Mary’s University, Twickenham, London inked a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Santo Tomas last April 18, 2016. Sir Francis Campbell, SMU Vice-Chancellor formalized the partnership with the Acting Rector of the University of Santo Tomas, the Very Rev. Richard G. Ang, O.P., PhD, making UST the London-based University’s central partner in the Asia-Pacific Region and one of its six global partners.
UST International Relations and Programs Director Prof. Lilian J. Sison, PhD and SMU Head of Partnerships and Global Enterprise Dr. David Reggio served as witnesses to this historical collaboration.
Campbell delivered a lecture as part of the 2nd installment of the UST Diplomats’ Lecture Series last April 18, 2016 at the Buenaventura G. Paredes Building. With the theme “Church and the Modern World,” Campbell discussed the continuing need to align the Catholic Social Teachings with the demands of the present society.
Campbell was the Head of Policy Unit of the London Foreign and Commonwealth Office and was Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Holy See from 2005 to 2011.
