AB Sociology students present paper in the PSS national conference

AB 20151016-17 Socio - Students in PSS ConfA group of AB Sociology students from the Faculty of Arts and Letters participated in the 2015 National Conference organized by the Philippine Sociological Society held at Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology last October 16 to 17, 2015. Paula de Castro, Joseph Franco Febre, Christian Joshua Lomahan, and Mary Antonnette Santos read their paper conceptualized from the theme “Sociology of Peace and Conflict: Contexts and Challeges.” The paper which was culled from their individual undergraduate theses aimed  to address the diversity common among  societies and approached it through the teaching of sociology of peace and social conflict. 
This national conference which gathered sociologists from the different regions of the Philippines took a particular interest with the complex relationship between religion, peace, and conflict in particular the tensions that exists within or amongst religious organizations in our country.  Its lead convenor, Dr. Jayeel Serrano Cornelio, a respected sociologist of religion and Director of the Development Studies Program at the Ateneo de Manila University, believed that this national congress will facilitate an interfaith dialogue which is a necessary component for the peace process to progress.
