Tiangco of Chem. Eng’g., Grad. School presents paper in Maryland

Engr. Cristina E. Tiangco, a member of the UST Chemical Engineering Department and a PhD student of the UST Graduate School, presented her research entitled “Development of a Fiber Optic Biosensor for Micromolar Levels of Transdermal Glucose” at the 2015 Mid-Atlantic Diabetes Research Symposium held at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland U.S.A.
Out of 34 abstracts submitted, her paper was one of the nine chosen for oral presentation. She was also the only PhD student asked to present her research together with postdocs, professors and medical doctors.
Engr. Tiangco is under the supervision of her thesis advisers, Dr. Fortunato Sevilla of University of Santo Tomas and Dr. Leah Tolosa of University of Maryland Baltimore County. Her research grant is from USAID Science, Technology, Research and Innovation for Development (STRIDE).
