Chem. Eng’g. students, faculty join International Coastal Clean-Up in Lemery, Batangas

Volunteers composed of UST Chemical Engineering students and faculty members went to Lemery, Batangas last September 19, 2015 in participation with the 30th International Coastal Cleanup (ICC). ICC is one of the world’s largest organized efforts for the marine environment held annually every third Saturday of September. This activity is also part of the students’ Environmental Engineering Course lead by their instructor, Prof. Evelyn Laurito. Aside from the cleanup, almost 200 mangrove seedlings were planted along the coast which will eventually help prevent shoreline erosion and serve as natural filtering systems and breeding ground for marine organisms.
