Two AB Political Science students participated in the 4 th Global Youth Leaders Travel and Learning Camp in Singapore from August 6 to 10, 2015. Mindy A. Roiza Planillo and Monique Allen V. Loria joined this annual gathering of student leaders from different universities around the world for an opportunity to undergo leadership training, as well as establish links with other student leaders and in order to facilitate an academic networking between and among Asian higher educational institutions.
Loria and Planillo, together with other participants were engaged in a highly interactive learning sessions that moved from one venue to the next. Whereas lectures and discussions were held in the National Community Leadership Institute Auditorium, the exposure trip required a visit to the National University of Singapore. In addition, a contest similar to a reality show, Amazing Race made the participants roam around the tourist attractions in Singapore using a variety of transportation modes. The learning camp was concluded with a closing program in Marina Barrage, a water reservoir in the heart of the city.
During the awarding ceremony, Planillo received the Outstanding Youth Leader Award, while Loria was recognized for being part of a group that rendered the most engaging discussion in one of the learning sessions.
