UST hosts Hominids of Dmanisi, Georgia exhibit by Traveling Museum PH

Last April 26, 2016 (Tuesday), the University of Santo Tomas welcomed Traveling Museum PH, which coordinated with Cozoz, Inc. and Crania Heritage Sciences, Inc., as it mounted the “The First Humans out of Africa: The Journey of Mankind” exhibit on hominids from Dmanisi, Georgia.
 
In his opening remarks, UST Museum Director Rev. Fr. Isidro C. Abaño, O.P. stressed the need for humans to look to the past and treasure it, faced with the present-day challenges. He thanked, on behalf of the University, the organizers and the dignitaries for bringing the exhibit to UST, which will likewise visit other universities in the metropolis.
 
The Project Director (Director-General) of The Traveling Museum PH, Ms. Mylene Lising, disclosed that the exhibition of the 1.8-million-year-old scientific casts of the Dmanisi fossils was part of Traveling Museum PH’s commitment to educating the nation in an innovative and engaging manner. Lising disclosed that apart from the exhibit, lectures and sandbox simulation activity will likewise be conducted in the University of Santo Tomas.
 
 
The opening ceremonies were graced with the presence of Spanish Ambassador Luis Calvo and Dr. Armand Salvador Mijares, the discoverer of the oldest human fossils in the Philippines.
