Carlomar Daoana, a former Varsitarian editor, won the prestigious 2015 Metrobank Foundation – Alice Guillermo Award for Art Criticism, for his essay entitled “Awestruck with Agency.” This essay examined the winning artwork of 2007 Metrobank Art and Design Excellence (MADE) awardee Mark Andy Garcia, who submitted a work entitled “Attack of the Righteous.”
This year’s Metrobank Art and Design Excellence awards bears the theme “Empowering Dreams for an Inspired Nation,” and calls on artists to inspire the nation toward excellence.
