HIGH SCHOOL CAREER ORIENTATION
GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING DEPARTMENT
With the
implementation of the K-12 program, junior students are now in a crossroad facing
paths leading to different career directions. To address the matter, the High
School Guidance Office conducted a career
awareness program entitled “STEP UP: MOVE YOUR WAY TO CAREER SUCCESS”
last January 20-21, 2015 in
coordination with the UST High School Student Council and UST High School Peer
Facilitators Club.
This aimed to equip the Grade 9 students
with vital information to help them come up with sound career decisions on
which track to take for Senior High School. Early career planning facilitates
successful matching of the students’ career choice and their personal traits
which include their personality, interest, and aptitudes.
The
invited plenary speakers were Thomasian professionals who excelled in fields
representing the four strands in Senior High School. They discussed the nature, job skill demands,
and trends in the labor market of their respective professions. Meanwhile,
successful alumni and parents also inspired the students keep pursuing their
dreams.
