Former Growling Tiger Rodil “Boy” Sablan was formally named as the head coach of the UST Growling Tigers in the next UAAP season last May 31, 2016.
Since the departure of seniors Kevin Ferrer, Karim Abdul, and Eduardo Daquioag; and also Jamil Sheriff and Louie Vigil, who will not play due to UAAP’s new rule that reduced the age limit of players, Sablan aimed to develop the remaining members of the team especially Kent Lao, Marvin Lee, and Embons Bonleon.
Sablan is one of the assistant coaches of the PBA team Blackwater Elite. He played for the University from 1980 to 1985.
