Santiago rallies youth to be vigilant in UST forum

Known as the Iron Lady of Asia, Presidential Candidate Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago paid a visit to UST last May 5, reminding the young Thomasians voters to be more vigilant and wise in the coming election.

After the warm welcome the Thomasians have given her and the Seminary Gym, James started her speech with her pre-pickup lines.

Santiago said that there are scientific doubts on voting machines, which will be used on the election. "The most notorious distortion of the people's choice is electoral corruption." Moreover, according to her, the most important problem was vote-buying. "These candidates buy and the uneducated masses are willing to sell their votes." Santiago, then, reminded the young voters to be more discernful. "Wise is now the youth," she said, urging them to put an end to the anomalies. "It is our duty today to think about tomorrow; it is our duty to decide this country's fate, "Santiago said.

"Forward, Santo Tomas!" Santiago said in her closing statement.
