Santiago of Chemistry selected to attend meeting with Nobel Laureates in March


FACULTY - SANTIAGO Karen SAssoc. Prof. Karen S. Santiago, PhD, a faculty member of the College of Science’s Department of Chemistry and concurrent Associate Director of the Office of International Relations and Programs, will be attending the 8th Hope Meetings with Nobel Laureates, from March 7 – 11, 2016, at the Tsukuba International Congress Center, Tsukuba, Japan.
 
According to the website of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), “HOPE Meetings give opportunities to excellent graduate students selected from countries and areas in the Asia-Pacific and Africa region to engage in interdisciplinary discussions with Nobel Laureates and other distinguished scientists pioneering the frontiers to knowledge. It is hoped that the experience the students gain at the meeting will inspire and motivate them to become excellent scientists able to shoulder the future of science and technology in the region.”
 
Following the submission of applications from different countries, a panel approved about 75 applications from overseas countries after a strict and competitive panel review.
