Carpio delivers lecture on West Philippine Sea dispute

In front of a jam-packed crowd at the Civil Law Auditorium, Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio delivered a lecture on the West Philippine Sea dispute, echoing the arguments raised by the Philippine delegation to the international tribunal at the Hague. The lecture, sponsored by the Faculty of Civil Law, was held last August 28, 2015.

During his lecture, Carpio presented empirical and historical evidence to debunk China’s claims, based on their presentation in the Hague. Carpio likewise presented the possible ramifications of China’s nine-dash line on trade activities in the disputed marine area, focusing on the effects on the Philippines and other claimant countries.
