CCC Director Lucila O. Bance, PhD said the three Thomasian Values are embedded in the objective of this event to build a brighter future for the students, “Competence to achieve excellence, Commitment to do innovation, and Compassion to achieve greatness.” With reference to the Job Street 2014-2015 surveys, Bance said that UST was in the Top 2 of the rankings among private universities as the most favored in terms of employment. Representing the students, Central Student Council (CSC) President Anna Mariz Mangalili said that the career fair also serves as a preparation for the younger generation, especially the Millennials. “Through its career seminars and on-site recruitment, the [Career Fair allows] us to build the best-trained work force competent enough to represent our country.”
Bance noted that the Career Center also expedites collaborative partnership between UST and Industry. She also acknowledged Psychology alumnus Angelo Lacanlale, the Leadership and Organizational Manager of Unilever; and Arts and Letters alumnus Blair Edgar Dimaano, Supply Chain and Human Resources Employee Relations; for giving back to their Alma Mater and paving way for this partnership.
“Unilever has committed itself to support our event from pre-implementation to post-evaluation, looking into the number of Thomasians who will truly benefit and be employed through this event,” Bance said.
