Asst. Prof. Michael Francis D. Benjamin, Ph.D., of the Chemical Engineering Department and Engr. Anthony James C. Bautista, Ph.D., of the Mechanical Engineering Department attended the Workshop on Sustainable Cities last January 25 – 28, 2016 at Crimson Hotel, Muntinlupa. The aim of this workshop is to develop Process Systems Engineering (PSE) methods for the provision of supplies and utilities to attain sustainable cities. The participants, half of which are from universities from the UK, are mentored to come up with project proposals relating to the provision of energy, reduction of waste, enhancing food security, and climate change adaptation.
The event is co-organized by the University of Nottingham and De La Salle University. The Sustainable Cities Workshop is sponsored by the Newton Fund through the British Council Research Links program. Dr. Benjamin and Dr. Bautista are both researchers at the Research Center for the Natural and Applied Sciences with research interests on energy systems modeling and agricultural machinery design, respectively.
