Asian Studies Society holds Model ASEAN Summit

With the theme "One ASEAN by 2016: Transcending Boundaries towards a Legacy", the Faculty of Arts and Letters Asian Studies Society held its second Summit UST Model (MAS) last January 25-27, 2016 at the Beato Angelico AVR, and the Thomas Aquinas Research Center, and at the St. Raymund de Peñafort Building.
The audience included students from different universities, namely the University of the Philippines Diliman, Far Eastern University, Capiz State University, University of the East, De La Salle University, De La Salle College of St. Benilde, and Ateneo de Manila University. They were grouped, played the role of delegates from different ASEAN countries, their assigned country's Head of Government, Ministers and Members of the Secretariat, and, lastly, tasked to zero in different kinds of issues basing on the policies of their assigned countries.
The three-day event envisioned to: 1) raise awareness about the ASEAN Integration; 2) promote ASEAN identity through cultural expositions and seminars; 3) enhance students' understanding and participation on the concept of global competency to achieve progress in the ASEAN Community; 4) open possible linkages amongst the different colleges in the country, embassies and other institutions for the growth of the students and the ASEAN Community.
